Instructor of Criminal Justice – 9 month, Full Time – Danville Community College, Danville, VA – Pay: $55,000 - $60,000

• Teach assigned Criminal Justice courses in accordance with college policies. Maintain current knowledge of the Criminal Justice field of study. Incorporate developmentally appropriate practice and evidence‑based instructional strategies. Teach various day, night and online courses, as needed. Complete Canvas and Regular Substantive Interaction (RSI) training. Participate in professional development related to teaching and Criminal Justice.
• Serve as the faculty lead for the Criminal Justice program. Facilitate criminal justice program advisory committee meetings. Assist the dean with planning, scheduling, and coordination of Criminal Justice courses. Facilitate communication among Criminal Justice adjunct instructors and the ASB division dean.
• Advise students regarding program requirements, career pathways, and transfer opportunities. Assist students in understanding pathways to credentials, licensure, or bachelor’s degree programs. Participate in student recruitment, orientation sessions, and program outreach events. Support student retention and program completion initiatives.
• Serve as a resource and liaison for adjunct and full‑time faculty teaching in the program. Facilitate sharing of curriculum resources, instructional materials, and best practices. Assist with onboarding of new adjunct faculty. Coordinate faculty participation in program assessment and accreditation activities.
• Develop and maintain relationships with local law enforcement providers and agencies. Collaborate with community partners to support workforce development initiatives. Represent the ASB Division in community events, advisory committees, and professional organizations.
• Assist with collection and analysis of program data. Prepare documentation and reports required for institutional and accreditation review, such as program reviews and annual program assessment.
• Maintain professional involvement in law enforcement organizations and initiatives. Stay current on the Criminal Justice field of study and teaching best practices. Participate in college service, committees, and professional development activities.
• Other duties as assigned. Special assignments may be required. May assist the agency or state government in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

• Master’s degree in Criminal Justice or Master’s with 18 graduate semester hours in Criminal Justice.

• 2 years of experience working in the field of Criminal Justice.
• Knowledge and experience with using People Soft.
• Extensive knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience using a Learning Management System (LMS).
• Experience working in a community college setting.
• Demonstrated success working with students, faculty, and administration.
