Immediate Supervisor:
School Principal/RPS Academic Supports and Interventions.
Reading Interventionists will be trained in evidence‑based assessment and programming to conduct Tier II & III interventions and site‑level professional development. Duties performed typically in a school setting. This role involves teaching and/or training services to students in a specialized subject. The work requires frequent standing, sitting, light lifting up to 10 pounds, walking, vocal communication, hearing, and visual acuity for preparing and analyzing written or computer data.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Provides small group instruction.
- Conducts monthly intervention professional development for school‑based staff.
- Works in conjunction with the School Based Intervention Team (SBIT) to assess students requiring Tier III interventions.
- Implements Tier III academic interventions using research‑based methodology in reading and/or math.
- Communicates with school personnel and families regarding reading and/or math level and progress.
- Documents interventions and progress for each child receiving Tier III interventions.
- Works with school leadership team to guide and monitor progress of each child.
- Participates in team reviews concerning academic progress for students struggling or needing services.
- Provides monthly progress monitoring data to teachers and administrators.
- Provides an environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social and emotional development of each student and supervises students in various school settings.
- Communicates and interacts with students, parents, staff, and community to develop, select and modify instructional plans and materials to meet all students’ needs.
- Maintains appropriate records and follows required procedures and practices; monitors equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Administers informal and formal assessments.
- Evaluates student progress against instructional objectives and manages classroom organization.
- Cooperatively schedules meetings with administration and staff.
- Attends all required professional development.
- Assists in designing, upholding, and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and School Board policy.
- Actively participates in faculty and/or department meetings.
- Assists in preparing data for local, state, and federal reports.
- Must have a collegiate professional license or postgraduate professional license with an English endorsement and a minimum of three years successful teaching experience.
- Bilingual skills, including Spanish, are a plus.
