Job Description

All Saints Catholic School in Richmond, VA, seeks a Substitute Teacher. Substitute Teachers will teach the assigned subject and enable each student to pursue their education in the absence of the regular teacher.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Report to the designated individual upon arrival at the school.
  • Review with the designated school representative the lesson plans and schedules to be followed.
  • Maintain the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which assigned.
  • Teach the lesson plans outlined by the regular classroom teacher.
  • Assume responsibility for overseeing pupil behavior in class, during lunch, and in other activity periods.
  • Maintain maximum supervision of assigned students at all times.
  • Report in writing on the day's activities at the conclusion of each teaching day.
  • Follow all policies, rules, and procedures.
  • Remain in the building or on school grounds during the hours assigned as a Substitute.
  • Model nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
Qualifications
  • Be at least 18 years old, with preference given to persons 21 years old or older.
  • Possess good moral character.
  • Hold a high school diploma with a preference for two years of full‑time secondary education or two years of work experience with children.
Working Conditions &

Physical Requirements
  • Must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods; exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telephone and enter data into a computer.
  • See and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal classroom levels, outdoors, and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in normal classrooms, outdoors, and on the telephone.
  • Possess the physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds and the ability to bend, stoop, sit on the floor, climb stairs, walk, and reach overhead.
