Position:
Adjunct Faculty – Business Statistics (Part‑time). The course is BUS 224:
Business Statistics. Students will learn probability, statistical inference, and business applications, using spreadsheet software and the Canvas LMS. The instructor will deliver instruction in a hybrid format – in person and online components.
Fall 2026 Semester (August 16–December 15, 2026). Hybrid instruction. Available teaching times:
Tuesdays, 1:00 PM–2:25 PM at Christanna Campus (Alberta, VA) and at John H. Daniel Campus (Keysville, VA).
- Teach data presentation, descriptive statistics, and basic probability concepts.
- Cover discrete and continuous probability distributions, the Central Limit Theorem, and estimation and sampling distributions.
- Instruct students on decision theory, simple linear regression, and hypothesis testing for single samples or populations.
- Guide students in utilizing spreadsheet software as a primary tool for statistical problem‑solving.
- Deliver instruction in a hybrid format, ensuring high‑quality course materials that align with college standards.
- Maintain engagement via the Canvas LMS for the online portion of the course.
- Monitor and document class attendance in compliance with college policies.
- Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Statistics, Mathematics, or a related Business field from a regionally accredited institution.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to write syllabi and exams.
- Experience developing learning strategies, curriculum, and assessments.
- Ability to work with students of varying abilities from diverse backgrounds.
- Understanding of and commitment to the mission of the community college and student success.
- Teaching experience at the college level, with face‑to‑face and online/hybrid modalities.
- Competency in instructional technologies such as SMART boards, Zoom, and Canvas LMS.
- Experience working with community college students.
- Demonstrated commitment to student engagement and academic success.
