VCUarts Adjunct Instructor - Department of Music

Summary

Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts (VCUarts) Department of Music is establishing a pool of applicants for possible adjunct teaching positions. This pool of applicants could be drawn upon to provide temporary staffing when needed, provide special teaching expertise when needed, and/or to meet special programmatic needs not otherwise provided for within the program.

• Doctorate in Music or Music Education.
• Experience instructing applied lessons from beginner to advanced levels.
• Willingness to recruit as needed, assist with semesterly assessments, and help support the Music department’s vision and student growth.

• Master’s Degree in Music, Music Education, Music Theory, or a related field.
• Appropriate teaching experience and/or strong oral presentation and communication skills.
• Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
• Demonstrated skills and experience in one or more areas of expertise in Voice, Winds and Percussion, Strings, Piano, Jazz, and other relevant areas.
