Job Title: Substitute Teacher
Job Type: Part-Time, as-needed basis
Position OverviewThe New Community School is seeking reliable and flexible substitute teachers to provide instructional support in the absence of regular classroom teachers. The substitute teacher will uphold the school’s mission by creating a structured and supportive learning environment, implementing lesson plans, and engaging students effectively.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver lesson plans provided by the teacher and ensure continuity of learning.
- Maintain a structured and positive classroom environment that aligns with TNCS values and expectations.
- Provide guidance and support to students with dyslexia and related learning differences.
- Adapt instructional methods to meet diverse learning needs as necessary.
- Manage classroom behavior and enforce school policies to ensure student engagement and safety.
- Communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
- Supervise students during non-classroom times as needed, such as transitions and lunch.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance and any incidents that occur during the day.
- Substitute teachers are needed on an as-needed basis and will be contacted for opportunities based on school needs.
- Training and orientation will be provided to ensure familiarity with TNCS’s approach and expectations.

Qualifications- Bachelor's degree required; degree in education or related field preferred.
- Teaching experience preferred; experience working with students with learning differences is a plus.
- Strong classroom management skills and the ability to engage students.
- Ability to adapt and be flexible in a dynamic school environment.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- A passion for working with students and a commitment to supporting their learning needs.
