Admissions and Recruitment Specialist

VCU School of Nursing (SON) is seeking a customer service and detail-oriented Admissions and Recruitment Specialist to assist the Office of Student Success in its admissions and recruitment efforts. The Admissions and Recruitment Specialist will report to the Assistant Dean in the Office of Student Success to ensure that all applicants of the School of Nursing have a seamless experience from the point of inquiry through matriculation.

The Admissions and Recruitment Specialist will interact with applicants, work with colleagues within the School of Nursing and partners within the university as well as external constituents. The successful applicant will be detail oriented, have advanced customer service skills and enjoy working both independently and as a part of a team. As a member of the Office of Student Success, the Admissions and Recruitment Specialist will also contribute to office wide projects, events, and initiatives.

Job duties include:

  • Participate in recruitment event preparation and logistics (20-30 events per year).
  • Along with the Assistant Director, Admissions, assist applicants with the admission process and navigating the various application and university systems to ensure a good application experience.
  • Along with the Assistant Director, Recruitment, manage incoming inquiries across all programs (e.g., web, email, phone).
  • Engage in ongoing communication and outreach with applicants and newly accepted students leading up to matriculation.
  • Work with the Assistant Director, Admissions and VCU-central admissions to ensure that all applicants are properly assigned and compliant at the university level.
  • Manage the reactivation form process.
  • Manage the transcript review process for our RN-BS program.
  • Work with the Assistant Dean to manage pre-admission and pre-clinical compliance conditions.
  • Attend School of Nursing and university open houses.
  • Maintain accurate applicant and student information in databases as necessary.
  • Participate in OSS related events and projects.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree or a minimum of one year of relevant professional experience in higher education or a related field.

- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple work priorities, work under pressure and meet deadlines.

- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

- Ability to follow directions with attention to detail.

- Demonstrate excellent problem-solving strategies.

- Demonstrate thoughtful and appropriate oral and written communication in daily interactions.

- Knowledge of computer applications, various databases and software programs, particularly Microsoft and Google Suites and the ability and willingness to learn new computer and technology applications as the work requires.

- Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Advanced computer proficiency in Google Suite, Banner and other software.

- Prior experience in higher education, or related field.

- Prior experience working with college students or related demographic.

- An interest in working in a complex and fast-moving organization

Salary Range:
Commensurate with experience starting at $55,000
