Undergraduate Admissions Counselor

Virginia Union University (VUU) is a distinguished private institution founded in 1865 that proudly upholds a legacy of academic excellence and community engagement. The Undergraduate Admissions Counselor represents Virginia Union University (VUU) at various recruitment events, including college fairs and high school/community college visits. This role involves counseling prospective students and their families on admission requirements, academic programs, financial aid, scholarships, campus life, and student activities. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to increasing student enrollment and fostering a diverse student body.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development of admissions publications.
  • Plan and execute recruitment events, both on and off-campus, for prospective students and high school counselors.
  • Utilize CRM systems, marketing tools, and third-party platforms to engage with prospective students via text, email, and phone.
  • Analyze institutional recruitment data and external data from testing services to target recruitment efforts effectively.
  • Develop and implement recruitment strategies to increase enrollment from an assigned territory.
  • Plan and conduct successful recruitment events and high school visits.
  • Exercise fiscal responsibility in managing travel and recruitment-related expenses.
  • Stay current with industry trends through self-directed learning, professional contacts, and attending development courses.
  • Participate in training and courses as required by the Director of Admissions.
  • Contribute to an inclusive work environment that values and respects diverse cultures and backgrounds.
  • Develop skills to effectively engage with individuals from various cultural and social backgrounds.

Education

  • A bachelor's degree is required.
  • Two or more years of experience in college admissions and recruitment at a regionally accredited institution is preferred.
  • Must be able to lift 10 pounds.
