Accounting Adjunct Faculty; Part-Time

Job Summary

Accounting Adjunct Faculty (Part‑Time) – Virginia Western Community College, School of Business, Technology, and Trades (BTT). Appointment on a course‑by‑course basis as needed, with hours and days varying based on course offerings. Pay: $793–$1,278 per credit hour; faculty rank determined upon credentialing. Telework options are subject to change based on business needs.

• Teach college‑level courses in‑person on the main campus and via distance learning/online. Courses include Principles and Intermediate Accounting, Payroll and Computerized Accounting, and Taxation.
• Maintain currency in teaching disciplines and stay current on community college education trends.
• Develop and write syllabi, exams, learning strategies, curriculum, and assessments.
• Communicate and collaborate with department and students of diverse backgrounds.
• Perform other duties as assigned and participate in departmental communication.

• Master’s degree in accounting or a Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in accounting.
• Two years recent occupational experience in accounting (financial or managerial accounting, payroll, taxation, and Quick Books usage).
• Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to work with students of varying abilities from diverse backgrounds.

• MOS Excel 2010 or later certification and Intuit Quick Books certification preferred.
• Experience using technology in the classroom and teaching online.
• Experience teaching in a community college setting.
• No required travel and no supervisory responsibilities.

Pay is set per credit hour; faculty rank is determined upon credentialing.
