Franklin, VA 620. Hiring Range: $793 per credit hour – Minimum Salary.
Employment Type:
Part Time. Telework options are subject to change based on business needs.
Anticipated work schedule:
Either Mon & Wed – 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM or Mon‑Fri – 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM or Mon‑Fri – 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM.
Either Day‑time Instructor or Night‑time Instructor as needed by the institution during the academic year.
- Teach courses in an adjunct capacity, limited to 12 workload credits in each fall and spring term and 8 workload credits in the summer term.
- Develop and deliver instruction across on‑campus, off‑campus, day, evening, distance learning, and weekend classes.
- Engage in scholarly and creative activities such as conference presentations, professional organization participation, academic coursework, research, publications, and grant activity.
- Perform assigned duties as part of the college’s development and evaluation plan for part‑time teaching faculty, attend required department, committee, and college meetings, adhere to college and VCCS policies, and maintain a collegial working relationship with faculty and staff.
- Contribute to college representation, citizenship, and community development activities.
- High School Diploma or equivalent;
Associate’s or equivalent in Welding (as noted in the VCCS‑29). - Five (5) years of related work experience.
- College teaching experience is preferred.
- Administration of state vehicle (no supervisors, no required travel beyond campus locations).
The selected candidate’s offer is contingent upon the successful completion of an extensive criminal background investigation, which may include fingerprint checks, local agency checks, employment verification, education verification, credit checks (relevant to employment), and other checks requested by the VCCS such as I‑9 and E‑Verify requirements. Selected candidates may also be required to complete the Commonwealth’s Statement of Economic Interest.
