Information System Technology Adjunct Faculty; Part-Time

Overview

Information Systems Technology Adjunct Faculty (Part‑Time) – a faculty role in the School of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) at Virginia Western Community College.

• Teach college‑level IST courses in‑person on the main campus, and deliver hybrid or online courses.
• Write syllabi and exams; develop learning strategies, curriculum and assessments.
• Maintain currency in teaching disciplines and trends in community college education.
• Participate actively in departmental communication.
• Assist the agency or state government during an emergency declaration by the Governor, if required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Two years related occupational experience.
• Master’s degree with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in Information Systems Technology, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or related field (required for transfer courses).
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems Technology, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or related field (required for other IST courses).
• Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills; ability to write syllabi and exams; ability to develop learning strategies, curriculum, and assessments.
• Experience teaching in a college setting, demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations, and experience using technology in the classroom and teaching online.
• Occupational experience and current certifications in the topic of interest.

Work Schedule:

Hours and days vary based on course offerings and enrollment. Positions are appointed on a course‑by‑course, semester basis. Salary: $793 – $1278 per credit hour.
