Position Overview
Developmental Math Adjunct Faculty – Part‑time, appointed on a course‑by‑course, semester basis. Pay ranges $793–$1278 per credit hour.
Responsibilities- Teach developmental math courses in‑person during day and/or evening sessions.
- Maintain currency in teaching discipline and community college education trends.
- Write syllabi, examinations, and assessment tools.
- Develop learning strategies, curriculum, and assessments.
- Assist students from diverse backgrounds and varying abilities.
- May perform other duties as assigned, including emergency support for agency or state government.
- Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to developmental mathematics.
- Teaching or occupational experience related to the assignment or graduate coursework in developmental education.
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to develop learning strategies, curriculum, and assessments.
- Experience working with students of varying abilities.
- Master’s degree in Mathematics.
- Teaching experience at the college level.
- Part‑time position; hours and days vary based on course offerings and enrollment.
- Telework options subject to change based on business needs.
- Works under Virginia Western Community College, a public two‑year institution located in Roanoke, VA.
