School of BTT Horticulture; Evening & Saturday Adjunct Faculty; Part-Time

Job Title: Adjunct Faculty, Horticulture (Part‑Time)

Friday evening and Saturday day classes at the Virginia Western Community College main campus in Roanoke, VA. Positions are appointment‑based on a course‑by‑course, semester basis. Travel and telework are not required.

• Teach college‑level horticulture courses covering Plant Propagation, Landscape Plants, Pest Management, Soils, Greenhouse Management, and Horticulture Business Management.
• Design and prepare syllabi, exams, and learning materials.
• Maintain current knowledge of horticultural science and trends in community college education.
• Collaborate with department colleagues and participate in departmental communications.
• Perform other duties as assigned, including emergency support if required by the state leadership.

• High‑school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum five years recent occupational experience in horticulture.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to develop learning strategies, curriculum, and assessments for diverse student populations.
• College‑level teaching experience preferred; an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in horticulture or a related field is a strong advantage.

Faculty are expected to comply with institutional policies, support emergency declarations, and may be required to provide vehicle operation. No supervisory responsibilities or required travel beyond the classroom.
