Sabot School, a progressive Preschool-Grade 8 school in Richmond, and a leader in the Reggio Emilia Approach®, seeks a Structured Literacy Intervention Specialist to provide intensive Tier III reading intervention for students with dyslexia and other language-based learning differences.
This position is designed for a highly skilled interventionist with specialized training in structured literacy. The specialist will provide individualized and small-group intervention for students with dyslexia and other language-based learning differences, monitor student progress, collaborate with teachers and families, and support the implementation of accommodations and learning strategies that help students thrive.
ESSENTIAL TASKS- Provide individualized and small-group Tier III structured literacy intervention for students in grades K–8 with dyslexia and other language-based learning differences
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, counselors, and families to support student success
- Assist in the development and implementation of accommodation plans and learning supports
- Contribute to professional learning related to dyslexia, structured literacy, and best practices for supporting students with learning differences
Only candidates with certification and experience in an evidence-based structured literacy approach should apply.
Required certification and training in at least one of the following:
- Orton-Gillingham (OG)
- Wilson Reading System (WRS)
- Barton Reading & Spelling System
- Take Flight
- Slingerland
- SPIRE
- Institute for Multi-Sensory Education (IMSE)
- Multisensory Teaching Approach (MTA)
- Neuhaus Education Center training
Candidates must demonstrate experience providing intervention for students with dyslexia and other language-based learning differences using structured literacy practices.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS- Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field (Master's degree preferred)
- Minimum of five years of successful teaching or intervention experience
- Deep knowledge of dyslexia, dysgraphia, executive functioning challenges, ADHD, and other learning
