Job Description

Career and Technical Instructor – Electrical, part‑time position focusing on adult education in electrical technology.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepares student semester reports, maintains student daily records, monitors and records student progress using formal and informal methods.
  • Provides academic advising, assists the Instructional Specialist, and participates in department trainings, meetings, and graduation.
  • Provides students with employment counseling and job placement assistance.
  • Instructs students on applying their knowledge to real‑life situations.
  • Motivates students, responding to their individual learning styles and cultural backgrounds.
  • Participates in orientation, registration, and assessment processes.
  • Completes annual professional development requirements established by the Richmond Adult Technical Center.
  • Participates in required meetings and workshops, maintaining confidentiality of work‑related information and materials.
  • Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Must possess required certification or license and skill in Electrical (Journeyman or Masters).
  • Preferred: five years of experience in the field.
  • Knowledgeable of environmental technology (EPA and OSHA) and effective teaching techniques for adult learners and testing preparation.
  • Ability to maintain and establish a work schedule for evening/night courses.
  • Sensitive to student population, flexible, following policies and procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective organizational and planning skills.
  • Knowledgeable of creative, innovative, non‑traditional teaching strategies successful with diverse students.
  • Some computer skills with Microsoft Word, Internet, and intranet access.
Pay Scale

$30.55 per hour.

Hours

6:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.
