Join Southside Virginia Community College in preparing the next generation of business leaders through BUS 200:
Principles of Management. This course teaches management and the core management functions of planning, organizing, leading, and controlling. The successful candidate must be committed to SVCC’s mission to provide high-quality education to the Southside Virginia community.
- Teach the fundamental management functions: planning, organizing, leading, and controlling.
- Focus on the application of management principles to realistic situations managers encounter in pursuit of organizational objectives.
- Deliver instruction in a hybrid format, ensuring high-quality course materials align with college standards.
- Maintain engagement through the college’s Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) for the online portion of the course.
- Participate in professional activities and support student success through active engagement.
- Monitor and document class attendance in compliance with college policies, maintaining accurate records and communicating with students and necessary departments as needed to support academic success.
- May be required to perform other duties as assigned.
- May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
- Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Management or a related Business field from a regionally accredited institution.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Interpersonal communication skills; ability to write syllabi and exams.
- Ability to develop learning strategies, curriculum, and assessments.
- Ability to work with students of varying abilities from diverse backgrounds.
- Understanding of and commitment to the mission of the community college and student success.
- Teaching experience at the college level, specifically with face‑to‑face and online/hybrid modalities.
- Competency using instructional technologies such as SMART boards, Zoom, and Canvas Learning Management System (LMS).
- Experience working with community college students.
- Demonstrated commitment to student engagement and academic success.
