Adjunct Faculty – World Regional Geography (Part‑Time)
Work Schedule & LocationsFall 2026 Semester (August 17 – December 15, 2026);
Hybrid format with in‑person instruction on campus and online components.
Teaching locations:
- Christanna Campus – Alberta, VA;
Wednesdays, 2:30 PM – 3:55 PM. - John H. Daniel Campus – Keysville, VA;
Wednesdays, 2:30 PM – 3:55 PM.
- Evaluate how people and places interact across space and time to produce spatial and environmental patterns.
- Introduce students to essential geographic tools, such as maps, to analyze regional data.
- Deliver instruction in a hybrid format, ensuring high‑quality course materials align with college standards and learning outcomes.
- Maintain engagement using the college’s Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) for the online portion of the course.
- Support student success through active instruction and adherence to the community college mission.
- Monitor and document class attendance in compliance with college policies, maintaining accurate records and communicating with students and necessary departments as needed to support academic success.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including assistance to the agency or state government during an emergency declaration by the Governor.
- Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Geography or a related field from a regionally accredited institution.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Interpersonal communication skills; ability to write syllabi and exams.
- Ability to develop learning strategies, curriculum, and assessments.
- Ability to work with students of varying abilities from diverse backgrounds.
- Understanding of and commitment to the mission of the community college and student success.
- Teaching experience at the college level, specifically with face‑to‑face and online/hybrid modalities.
- Competency using instructional technologies such as SMART boards, Zoom, and Canvas Learning Management System (LMS).
- Experience working with community college students.
- Demonstrated commitment to student engagement and academic success.
