Role Overview
Adjunct Faculty – Surgical Technology (Part‑Time). The position provides classroom instruction in the Surgical Technology Program at Virginia Western Community College, starting Fall 2026 (August 2026). Hours and days vary based on course offerings and enrollment. Faculty are appointed on a course‑by‑course, semester basis.
Responsibilities- Deliver classroom instruction in the Surgical Technology Program.
- Maintain currency in the teaching discipline and in trends in community college education.
- Assist the agency or state government in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree from an accredited Surgical Technology Program.
- Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification.
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience within the past 5 years.
- Experience providing clinical instruction in an AAS Surgical Technology Program.
- Current CPR/BLS Healthcare Provider certification.
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work with students of varying abilities from diverse backgrounds.
- Bachelor’s degree in Surgical Technology or a comparable field.
- Prior teaching experience in a Surgical Technology Program.
- Experience using technology in the classroom.
