College Lecturer
Brightpoint Community College is a two‑year public institution of higher education located in the Greater Richmond metropolitan area. It serves students across its Chester, Midlothian, and online campuses.
General InformationAdjunct faculty teaching is limited to a maximum of 8 credit hours in the summer, 12 in the fall, and 12 in the spring semester. Courses are taught on either the Chester or Midlothian campus.
ResponsibilitiesThe Division of Mathematics, Science, Health, and Human Services augments full‑time faculty with qualified part‑time instructors to enhance student learning.
- Provide traditional delivery instruction in developmental math, Basic Technical Mathematics, Fundamentals of Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, Precalculus I & II, Statistics, Applied Calculus, Calculus I–III, Differential Equations, and Linear Algebra.
- Prepare & deliver course materials and assessments.
- Maintain accurate student records and grading.
- Participate in faculty meetings and professional development as required.
- May be required to perform other duties as assigned.
- May assist the agency or state government in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
- Minimum of a master’s degree with 18 graduate semester hours of coursework in the specific discipline.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Prior teaching experience at the postsecondary level.
- Ability to use instructional technologies.
- Successful completion of a criminal background check.
Applicants should be able to use instructional technologies and be willing to assist in emergency situations as described.
