Position Summary
Radiography Faculty, 9‑month teaching faculty at Virginia Western Community College, Roanoke, VA. Full‑time appointment beginning Fall 2026 (August 2026). Pay range $70,541 – $122,936 per year, with a 12‑month salary spread.
InstitutionVirginia Western Community College is a two‑year public institution of higher education in the Virginia Community College System. The College serves students in Roanoke, Salem, Roanoke County, Craig County, Franklin County, and southern Botetourt County.
ResponsibilitiesThe faculty member will:
- Teach approximately 15 credits per semester (≈30 credits per academic year) in Radiography and related courses, including face‑to‑face and hybrid/distance learning formats, during weekdays and weekends.
- Advise students, serve on college committees, and participate in activities supporting the college mission such as department meetings, curriculum planning, program assessment, course and program evaluation, community service, student recruitment, retention, and mentoring of new and part‑time faculty.
- Serve as Program Clinical Coordinator, coordinating clinical placements and ensuring compliance with JRCERT Standards.
- Conduct a 15‑minute teaching session during the interview process.
- Possibly perform other duties as assigned and assist the agency in emergencies declared by the Governor.
- Associate’s degree required, with bachelor’s degree in progress and anticipated completion within 24 months of hire.
- Minimum two years of current clinical experience in diagnostic imaging.
- Minimum one year experience as an instructor in a JRCERT‑accredited radiography program.
- Current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification and registration, or equivalent.
- Current, unrestricted Virginia state R.T. license or eligibility to obtain one.
- Bachelor’s degree in Radiography or a related health field.
- Master’s degree in a health‑related field.
- Experience teaching students in a community college setting.
- Experience using classroom technologies such as Canvas, Panopto, and PowerPoint.
- Experience providing instruction in classroom, lab, and clinical settings.
Limited travel may be required for occasional visits to clinical sites. State vehicles may be available for most business‑related travel. No supervisory responsibilities or required travel beyond occasional site visits.
