Overview
Human Services Adjunct – Part‑Time instructor at Brightpoint Community College, located in Chesterfield, VA. Compensation is $793 to $1,693 per credit hour.
Responsibilities- Teach Human Services, Mental Health, and Substance Use courses such as Introduction to Human Services, Substance Abuse I & II, Mental Health Skill Training I & II, Working with Death and Dying, Functional Family Intervention, Gerontology, Case Management and Substance Abuse, Intellectual Disabilities I, and On‑Site Training and Coordinated Practice.
- Deliver coursework in face‑to‑face, hybrid, and online formats on either the Chester or Midlothian campuses.
- Develop lesson plans, assessments, and maintain academic standards for each unit of instruction.
- Assist with special assignments, including emergency response duties as required by the agency or state government.
- Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Human Services, Social Work or a related discipline from a regionally accredited institution.
- Minimum of two years of related field experience with strong knowledge of best practices.
- Proven expertise in the subject matter to be taught and previous college‑level teaching experience.
- Experience in substance use/addictions.
- Understanding of social justice, trauma‑informed approaches and intersectionality.
- Experience teaching diverse student populations.
- Training/certification to teach online and hybrid courses.
- Proficiency with interactive instructional technologies.
Position is classified as Sensitive, exempt and does not offer telework, vehicle operation or required travel.
