Human Services Adjunct

Overview

Human Services Adjunct – Part‑Time instructor at Brightpoint Community College, located in Chesterfield, VA. Compensation is $793 to $1,693 per credit hour.

• Teach Human Services, Mental Health, and Substance Use courses such as Introduction to Human Services, Substance Abuse I & II, Mental Health Skill Training I & II, Working with Death and Dying, Functional Family Intervention, Gerontology, Case Management and Substance Abuse, Intellectual Disabilities I, and On‑Site Training and Coordinated Practice.
• Deliver coursework in face‑to‑face, hybrid, and online formats on either the Chester or Midlothian campuses.
• Develop lesson plans, assessments, and maintain academic standards for each unit of instruction.
• Assist with special assignments, including emergency response duties as required by the agency or state government.

• Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Human Services, Social Work or a related discipline from a regionally accredited institution.
• Minimum of two years of related field experience with strong knowledge of best practices.
• Proven expertise in the subject matter to be taught and previous college‑level teaching experience.

• Experience in substance use/addictions.
• Understanding of social justice, trauma‑informed approaches and intersectionality.
• Experience teaching diverse student populations.
• Training/certification to teach online and hybrid courses.
• Proficiency with interactive instructional technologies.

Position is classified as Sensitive, exempt and does not offer telework, vehicle operation or required travel.
