Chemistry Adjunct Faculty – Tidewater Community College, Chesapeake. Pay range: $793–$1,375 per credit hour, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Work schedule varies; telework options subject to change. Classified as part‑time. The position is subject to emergency/essential personnel policies.

Job SummaryThe adjunct faculty member is responsible for planning, teaching, and evaluating courses in Chemistry using various instructional strategies and technology to meet learning outcomes. Instruction may be delivered in‑classroom, remotely via Zoom, or online. The instructor must hold office hours, provide timely feedback, and engage students of diverse academic backgrounds.
Functional Responsibilities- Create a learning environment that facilitates students’ acquisition of knowledge and skills in Chemistry.
- Align course activities with student learning outcomes; employ active learning strategies, appropriate technology and materials; provide prompt and meaningful feedback; communicate with students respectfully.
- Deliver instruction supporting stated learning outcomes; adhere to college policies for student surveys; conduct meaningful assessments, including at least one early assessment; analyze previous semester evaluations and implement action plans as needed.
- Work during the day, evening, or weekend as determined by assigned courses.
- Hold at least one office hour per week for each course assigned.
May be required to perform other duties as assigned and to assist the agency or state government during an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA's /Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Chemistry or a graduate degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Chemistry.
- Ability to communicate effectively in electronic formats.
- Teaching experience at the college level.
- Knowledge of CANVAS or other learning management systems.
- Experience with proven teaching strategies that promote student success.
- Proficient technology skills to work productively in an organization that utilizes significant information and instructional technology resources.
