Brightpoint Community College in Chesterfield, Virginia is seeking a part‑time adjunct instructor in Computer Science for the 2026–2027 academic year.
About the PositionThe role supports the Business, Engineering and Technology Division by providing instruction for day and evening classes on campus or via online synchronous and asynchronous methods. Eligible courses include Introduction to Computer Science, Computer Science I & II, Computer Organization, and Discrete Structures. Adjunct faculty may teach up to 8 credit hours in the summer, 12 credit hours in the fall, and 12 credit hours in the spring.
Responsibilities- Deliver effective teaching in one or more Computer Science courses.
- Prepare lesson plans, assignments, and assessments that promote student learning and assessment of course objectives.
- Use instructional technologies and adapt to emerging tools to support diverse student populations.
- Maintain productive communication with students and colleagues, responding to email and course platform queries in a timely manner.
- Participate in faculty meetings and faculty development activities as required.
- May be called upon for additional duties, including emergency or agency support when directed by the Governor.
- Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, with minimum 18 graduate semester hours in the discipline.
- Relevant work experience in computer science content areas.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Successful completion of a criminal background check.
- Postsecondary teaching experience.
- Experience teaching at the community college level.
- Proficiency with educational technology platforms.
- Demonstrated ability to instruct diverse student populations.
