Job Summary
Early Childhood Adjunct – An associate faculty position at Brightpoint Community College in Chesterfield, VA. The instructor will teach courses focused on early childhood development for students preparing to work with young children or transfer to baccalaureate programs.
Division and Teaching LimitationsThe position is within the Division of Art, Humanities, and Social Sciences. Adjunct faculty may teach a maximum of 8 credit hours in the summer, 12 in the fall, and 12 in the spring semester.

- Observation and Participation in Early Childhood/Primary Settings
- Guiding the Behavior of Children
- Language Arts for Young Children
- Math, Science and Social Studies for Children
- Infant and Toddler Programs
- Introduction to Exceptional Children
- Early Childhood Programs, School, and Social Change
- Administration of Child Care Programs
- Advanced Observation and Participation in Early Childhood/Primary Settings
- Deliver instruction in face‑to‑face, hybrid, and online formats.
- Prepare and update course materials and assessments.
- Engage a diverse student population and maintain a supportive learning environment.
- May be required to perform additional duties as assigned.
- Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education or equivalent from a regionally accredited institution.
- Minimum of 18 graduate credits in Early Childhood.
- At least two years of related occupational experience with current knowledge of best practices for birth‑to‑age‑five.
- Proven expertise in early care and education.
- Relevant teaching experience in K‑3rd grade settings.
- Experience teaching college‑level courses to a diverse student body.
- Training or certification to teach online and hybrid courses.
- Proficiency with interactive instructional technologies.
