Position: Math Central Tutor (Trainer Instructor II)
Location: Richmond, VA (Remote options available)
Employment type: Part‑time (up to approximately 29 hours per week, hourly $20)
Reynolds Community College is seeking two part‑time Math Central Tutors: one for the PRC/virtual campus and one for the DTC/virtual campus. The Math Central+ Center supports retention and success objectives through peer advising and course remediation.
Responsibilities- Tutor and provide academic support to students in mathematics individually, in small groups, or as an embedded tutor in a course. Services may be provided in‑person/on‑campus or virtually as determined by the supervisor.
- Communicate effectively using both oral and written skills for reports, email, student feedback, etc.
- Maintain a working knowledge of educational software programs (e.g., My Math Lab ) and instructional techniques and tools.
- Distribute, inventory, and maintain MC+ equipment (e.g., calculators).
- Attend additional training sessions and professional development opportunities related to the position or at the supervisor’s discretion.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including assistance to the agency or state government in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
- Education or training that includes mathematics coursework.
- Completion and/or knowledge of developmental mathematics through calculus.
- Knowledge of complementary discipline content (e.g., physics or engineering in upper‑level math).
- Knowledge of My Math Lab .
- Background check (fingerprint checks, local agency checks, employment verification, education verification, credit checks).
- Requirement to complete the Commonwealth’s Statement of Economic Interest.
- Compliance with E-Verify; I‑9 documentation required.
