Salary: commensurate with education and experience, located in the emergency/essential personnel category.
- Teach and facilitate courses in the SDV program across various campus sites and times as needed to support student success.
- Serve as SDV program head, assisting the school dean with college-wide management duties for academic programs and disciplines, including program health, curriculum, faculty development and evaluation, compliance, scheduling, and staffing.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Assist the agency or state government in emergency declarations by the Governor.
- Travel between campuses as required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in the teaching field with demonstrated competency in teaching.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Community college or high school teaching experience.
- Ability to emphasize student‑centered and innovative learning experiences.
- Ability to work effectively with multicultural populations supporting diversity, cultural understanding, and inclusion.
- Operation of a state vehicle (no supervision of employees, no required travel).
The selected candidate’s offer is contingent upon the successful completion of an extensive criminal background investigation, including fingerprint checks, local agency checks, employment verification, education verification, credit checks when relevant, and other checks required by the Virginia Community College System, such as I‑9 and E‑Verify.
