Adjunct faculty teaching is limited to a maximum of 8 credit hours in the summer semester, 12 in the fall, and 12 in the spring. These limits apply to total credit hours taught across Virginia’s Community Colleges (VCCS). Additional restrictions may apply depending on other positions occupied within VCCS.
ResponsibilitiesStudent Development (SDV) programs assist students in transitioning to college. Instructors provide students with tools for academic success and skill development, such as self‑management, self‑responsibility, and information about college policies and procedures, educational system navigation, and community resources. Instruction may be delivered online or in person on either the Chester or Midlothian campuses.
Special AssignmentsMay be required to perform other duties as assigned, including assistance to the agency or state government during an emergency declaration by the Governor.
Qualifications- Minimum of a master’s degree in Education or a related field.
- Prior teaching experience at the postsecondary level.
- Ability to use instructional technologies such as Canvas.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
