What You'll Do

As a Business Literacy Instructor, you'll create engaging learning experiences that prepare students with essential workplace development and technology skills while supporting their academic, personal, and spiritual growth.

Instruction & Student Learning
  • Develop and deliver engaging, rigorous business literacy instruction designed to prepare students to be successful in the classroom and the Corporate Work Study placement.
  • Develop and deliver engaging, rigorous technology instruction aligned with the Cristo Rey curriculum and College Board standards.
  • Teach Microsoft Office applications and foundational information technology concepts.
  • Create culturally relevant lessons that meet the needs of predominantly first‑generation, low‑income students.
  • Establish and maintain a positive, structured classroom environment that promotes student engagement and achievement.
  • Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies to maximize learning outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate records of grades, attendance, behavior, and student progress.
  • Communicate regularly with students and families regarding academic performance and growth.
  • Provide academic support during Office Hours and other intervention opportunities.
  • Participate fully in instructional coaching, evaluation, and continuous professional growth.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to strengthen curriculum and improve student achievement.

  • Model the principles that help students become men and women of faith, purpose, and service.
  • Foster high expectations for student behavior while supporting school‑wide culture and routines.
  • Participate actively in faculty meetings, professional development, retreats, and department collaboration.
  • Attend school events, including admissions programs, parent‑teacher conferences, retreats, liturgies, assemblies, and other community activities, including occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Supervise students during school events and provide classroom coverage when needed.
  • Support and promote the Corporate Work Study Program as an essential component of student learning and professional development.
  • Communicate professionally and collaboratively with students, families, faculty, staff, and administrators.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
