Job Description

Rappahannock Community College (RCC) is seeking a Library Specialist to serve students, faculty, and community patrons at the Warsaw campus. This part‑time position (29 hours per week) requires a late shift until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesdays and occasional Saturdays. The anticipated hourly pay rate is $15.00–$21.00, commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver friendly, effective customer service to all library patrons.
  • Maintain professionalism in all interpersonal communications.
  • Use the Alma Library Management System for circulation duties, including account management and material check‑in/out.
  • Assist with RCC  creation for students, faculty, and staff.
  • Manage study room reservations via SharePoint.
  • Provide assistance with copiers, printers, scanners, and other library technology.
  • Communicate library policies and guidelines.
  • Answer basic reference questions using electronic and print sources.
  • Troubleshoot library technology issues.
  • Aid the Circulation Manager and Acquisitions Manager with shelving, organizing library materials, creating displays, and other duties as assigned.
  • Assist with interlibrary loan, overdue notifications, and billing processes as needed.
  • Open and close the library on time.
  • Follow library procedures, policies, and guidelines accurately.
  • Maintain familiarity with the library’s print and electronic collection, website, and online research guides.
  • Participate in library‑related trainings and professional development.
  • Work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Experience delivering high‑quality customer service.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with computer applications and software.
  • Accurate and timely work performance.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Experience with library or academic support is preferred.
