College Lecturer
Brightpoint Community College is a two‑year public institution of higher education located in the Greater Richmond metropolitan area. The college serves students at its Chester and Midlothian campuses, through online courses, and across its service area. Its mission is to provide quality educational opportunities that inspire student success and community vitality.
General InformationThe Division of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences augments full‑time teaching faculty with qualified part‑time instructors to enhance the student learning process. Adjunct faculty may teach up to 8 credit hours in the summer semester, 12 in the fall, and 12 in the spring, with total limits governed by Virginia’s Community College System (VCCS). Additional restrictions may apply based on other positions occupied within VCCS.
ResponsibilitiesProvide online or traditional (on‑campus) delivery instruction on either the Chester or Midlothian campus. Courses offered include Digital Film Editing and Post Production, Film Production I & II, and Screenwriting.
Special Assignments- May be required to perform other duties as assigned.
- May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
- Minimum of a master’s degree in the discipline or a related field, with 18 graduate semester hours in Photography/Film.
- Prior teaching experience at the postsecondary level.
- Ability to use instructional technologies.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
