Job Overview

Position:
Adjunct Faculty – Graphic and Media Design (FLSA Exempt) at Virginia Peninsula Community College, Hampton. Pays $781–$1,305 per credit hour. Part‑time, teaching load up to 12 credit hours in fall and spring and/or 8 credit hours in summer. Courses may be assigned on the Hampton or Historic Triangle campuses, other off‑site centers, and online (asynchronous/synchronous) day, evening, and weekend classes.

• Design and deliver instruction for day, evening, or weekend classes.
• Assess and grade students.
• Maintain adequate on‑campus presence.
• Communicate timely with students, staff, and administrators.
• Assist in emergency duties as assigned.

• Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution with at least 18 graduate semester credits in Graphic and Media Design or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated passion for Graphic and Media Design and commitment to diverse student success.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud suite.
• Ability to teach Type Design, Layout Design, and Web Design.
• Organized instruction planning and adaptable teaching strategies.
• Ability to document attendance, progress, and submit final grades to division administrator by deadlines.
• Willingness to work at all campus locations.

• Community college teaching experience.
• Experience teaching online, hybrid, and traditional face‑to‑face modalities.
• Proficiency in instructional technologies and learning management systems (e.g., Blackboard, Canvas).
• Ability to measure, assess, and align student outcomes.

Telework options may be available based on business needs. Work schedule varies. No travel required.
