School of BTT Horticulture Adjunct Faculty; Part-Time

Position Overview

Adjunct Faculty – Horticulture (Part‑Time) in the School of Business, Technology, and Trades (BTT) at Virginia Western Community College. Appointment is on a course‑by‑course, semester basis, with hours and days varying by course offerings.

• Teach college‑level horticulture courses in‑person, hybrid, or online, including Plant Propagation, Landscape Plants, Pest Management, Soils, Greenhouse Management, and Horticulture Business Management.
• Develop syllabi, exams, learning strategies, curriculum, and assessments while maintaining currency in teaching disciplines and community college education trends.
• Work effectively with students of diverse backgrounds and varying abilities and actively participate in departmental communication.
• Perform other duties as assigned and assist the agency or state in emergencies if declared by the Governor.

• High school diploma or equivalent (minimum).
• Minimum five years of recent occupational experience in horticulture.
• Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to write syllabi and exams; capability to develop learning strategies, curriculum, and assessments.
• Ability to collaborate with students from diverse backgrounds.

• Teaching experience at the college level.
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree with a major in horticulture or related field.
