ESL Instructor (Adjunct)

Midlothian campus (Chesterfield - 041)

Pay: $793–$1,693 per credit hour

Schedule:

Varies; maximum 8 credit hours in summer and 12 credit hours in fall and spring semesters.

Telework: subject to change based on business needs

• Provide traditional synchronous instruction in English as a second language.
• Teach in‑person courses on the Midlothian campus, including ESL Composition II & III and ESL Reading II & III.
• Use instructional technologies such as Zoom and Canvas.
• Perform other duties as assigned and assist the agency or state government in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

• Bachelor’s degree with a major in applied linguistics or TESOL, or 18 graduate semester hours of coursework in applied linguistics or TESOL.
• Prior ESL teaching experience.
• Prior teaching experience at the postsecondary level (additional consideration).
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to use instructional technologies.

• No supervisory responsibilities.
• State vehicle operation not required.
• No required travel.
