Adjunct Math Faculty; Part-Time - PreCalculus

Position Overview

Part‑time Adjunct Math Faculty – Pre Calculus I. Teach the foundational mathematics course MTH 161 at Southside Virginia Community College, Christanna Campus, Alberta, VA. Course meets Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9:40 AM – 11:05 AM, Fall 2026 (August 16‑December 15, 2026). Salary $793.00–$1,098.00 per credit, based on qualifying rank.

• Develop, update, and deliver course content in Pre Calculus I covering relations and functions, polynomial and rational functions, exponential and logarithmic functions, and systems of equations.
• Create and maintain high‑quality course materials aligned with college standards and learning outcomes.
• Engage students through the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS); monitor and document class attendance in compliance with college policies.
• Support academic success by communicating with students and relevant departments as needed.
• Assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor, and perform any other duties as assigned.

• Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Mathematics from a regionally accredited institution.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Interpersonal communication skills; ability to write syllabi and exams.
• Ability to develop learning strategies, curriculum, and assessments.
• Experience working with students of varying abilities from diverse backgrounds.
• Understanding of and commitment to the mission of the community college and student success.
• Teaching experience at the college level, specifically with face‑to‑face and online/hybrid modalities.
• Competency using instructional technologies such as SMART boards, Zoom, and Canvas LMS.
• Experience working with community college students.
• Demonstrated commitment to student engagement and academic success.
