Pay: $793.00 – $1098.00 per credit

Schedule: Hybrid – in‑person instruction on campus with online components;
Thursdays, 1:00 PM – 2:25 PM at Christanna Campus

Position Type: Part‑time adjunct faculty (no state or VCCS benefits)

• Teach undergraduate‑level Principles of Psychology, covering foundational topics such as research methods, biological bases of behavior, sensation and perception, and developmental psychology.
• Instruct students in core psychological processes, including learning, memory, cognition, intelligence, personality, and social behavior.
• Cover major psychological disorders and their evidence‑based treatments.
• Design and implement assignments that promote college‑level reading comprehension, critical thinking, and clear, coherent written communication.
• Utilize pre‑developed assessments aligned with institutional learning outcomes and evaluate student work to support program and college‑wide assessment purposes.
• Deliver instruction in a hybrid format, ensuring all course materials, activities, and assessments meet established college standards for quality and rigor.
• Maintain consistent student engagement through the college’s Canvas Learning Management System (LMS), supporting both in‑person and online components of the course.
• Monitor and document class attendance in compliance with college policies and communicate with students and relevant departments as needed.

• Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Psychology from a regionally accredited institution.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Interpersonal communication skills; ability to write syllabi and exams.
• Ability to develop learning strategies, curriculum, and assessments.
• Experience working with students of varying abilities from diverse backgrounds.
• Understanding of and commitment to the mission of the community college and student success.

• Teaching experience at the college level, specifically with face‑to‑face and online/hybrid modalities.
• Competency using instructional technologies such as SMART boards, Zoom, and Canvas Learning Management System (LMS).
• Experience working with community college students.
• Demonstrated commitment to student engagement and academic success.

May be required to perform other duties as assigned, including assistance to the agency or state government in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
