Adjunct Regional Geography Faculty; Part-Time

Position Overview

Adjunct Faculty – World Regional Geography (Part‑time) – Pay: $793–$1098 per credit.

Work schedule:

Fall 2026 Semester (August 17 – December 15 2026), Hybrid (in‑person on campus + online components). Locations:
Christanna Campus (Alberta, VA) Wednesdays 2:30 – 3:55 PM;
John H. Daniel Campus (Keysville, VA) same time.

• Evaluate how people and places interact across space and time to produce specific spatial and environmental patterns.
• Introduce students to essential geographic tools, such as maps, to analyze regional data.
• Deliver instruction in a hybrid format, ensuring high‑quality course materials align with college standards and learning outcomes.
• Maintain engagement through the college’s Canvas Learning Management System for the online portion of the course.
• Support student success through active instruction and adherence to the community college mission.
• Monitor and document class attendance in compliance with college policies, maintaining accurate records and communicating with students and necessary departments as needed to support academic success.

May be required to perform other duties as assigned and to assist the agency or state government during an emergency declaration by the Governor.

• Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Geography or a related field from a regionally accredited institution.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Interpersonal communication skills; ability to write syllabi and exams.
• Ability to develop learning strategies, curriculum, and assessments.
• Ability to work with students of varying abilities from diverse backgrounds.
• Understanding of and commitment to the mission of the community college and student success.

• Teaching experience at the college level, specifically with face‑to‑face and online/hybrid modalities.
• Competency using instructional technologies such as SMART boards, Zoom, and Canvas LMS.
• Experience working with community college students.
• Demonstrated commitment to student engagement and academic success.
