Nurse Aide Adjunct – Brightpoint Community College
Brightpoint Community College, a two‑year public institution serving the Greater Richmond metropolitan area, seeks a qualified Registered Nurse to serve as an adjunct instructor for nursing aide certification courses. The role involves teaching face‑to‑face classes that prepare students for practical nursing aide certification.
Responsibilities- Teach the equivalent of 7‑12 credit hours per semester.
- Engage students in the learning process.
- Provide clinical supervision of students.
- Revise course and curriculum materials.
- Maintain accurate student files.
- Represent Brightpoint Community College at community events and professional opportunities when possible.
- Maintain positive relationships with community partners.
- May be required to perform other duties as assigned, including assistance to the agency or state government during emergency declarations by the Governor.
- Successful completion and passing of a criminal background check is required.
- Registered Nurse holding a current, unrestricted license in Virginia or a multistate licensure privilege.
- At least two years of experience as a registered nurse within the previous five years.
- At least one year of experience providing long‑term care facility services.
- Experience caring for the geriatric population.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to teach a combination of day, evening, and weekend classes.
- Flexibility to work at any of the college’s locations.
- Successful completion and passing of a criminal background check.
- Ability to use instructional technology.
- Experience teaching at the post‑secondary college level.
- Experience with Virginia BON regulation regarding Nurse Aide education programs.
The selected candidate’s offer is contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background investigation, which may include fingerprint checks, local agency checks, employment verification, verification of education, and credit checks (relevant to employment). Selected candidates may also be required to complete the Commonwealth’s Statement of Economic Interest.
