The VCU Department of Mathematics and Statistics has more than 60full-time faculty members, approximately 15 masters students, 50
Ph.D. students and about 200 undergraduate mathematical sciencesmajors.
Our department’s members are committed teachers as well as activeand productive mathematical sciences researchers, publishing inpeer review journals, publishing books, speaking at conferences and seminars regionally, nationally and internationally, reviewingjournal articles, organizing conferences and sessions, and collaborating broadly within the mathematical, statistical, and scientific communities
Position Summary:The Virginia Commonwealth University College of Humanities and Sciences is recruiting a pool of adjunct faculty for upcomingsemester course sections with the Department of Mathematics and Statistics. This pool will be utilized on an as-needed basis. Your application will remain active until June 2027. You may resubmityour application for subsequent years. Only those selected for an interview will be contacted. While it is possible for a teaching need to arise for any of ourcourses, it is more likely for the department to need adjunctinstructors for our introductory level 100-200 level courses.
Candidates must be able to teach in person in Richmond,Virginia
- Follow all designated course instruction guidelines.
- Attend course coordination and department meetings as your schedule permits.
- Grade assignments and exams in a timely manner based oninstructions/rubric provided.
- Respond to student inquiries within 24 hours.
- Submit final grades according to College and Departmentpolicies.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a related field with experience and specialized expertise in mathematics is required.
- Applicants must have demonstrated teaching experience.
- PhD or other doctoral degree in a related discipline ordirectly related to the position is highly preferred.
- Previous experience teaching courses within the Department.
$1,487 per credit hour
