Job Overview
English as a Second Language Adjunct – Summer and Fall 2026 (Position Code 01013‑SW). Teach up to 12 credit hours per semester or up to 8 credit hours in summer sessions.
Responsibilities- Teach ESL courses in-person and online.
- Develop syllabi and instructional materials.
- Maintain student records, assign grades, and assess progress.
- Adhere to Germanna Community College (GCC) and Virginia Community College System (VCCS) policies and regulations.
- Maintain current competence in ESL pedagogy and required educational technology.
- Meet assigned classes regularly; submit required records and reports on time.
- Follow college’s professional ethics statement and institutional policies.
- Bachelor’s degree in ESL, English, Foreign Language, or Linguistics.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Willingness to employ and learn educational technology, including AI tools.
- Commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion.
- Experience teaching ESL at a secondary level (preferred).
- 18 graduate semester hours in applied linguistics or TESOL (preferred).
- Proficiency in a learning management system such as Canvas.
Position is located in Virginia; must reside within reasonable commuting distance or be willing to relocate. Travel to all campus locations may be required.
