SVCC is seeking a Coordinator of Financial Aid & Veterans Affairs. The Coordinator of Financial Aid & Veterans Affairs serves as a member of the Financial Aid & Veterans Affairs leadership team and provides operational leadership for the daily administration of federal, state, institutional, and military educational assistance programs. The position coordinates financial aid processing, oversees assigned operational functions, ensures compliance with applicable regulations, supervises assigned staff, and provides guidance to students throughout the financial aid process.

Working collaboratively with internal departments, external agencies, and military partners, the Coordinator supports student success by promoting equitable access to financial resources while maintaining compliance with federal, state, Virginia Community College System (VCCS), and institutional requirements.

The Coordinator reports to the Vice President of Enrollment Management & Student Success and will serve students across all Southside Virginia Community College locations.

Financial Aid Administration
  • Assists with the administration of federal, state, institutional, and private financial aid programs.
  • Coordinates daily financial aid operations to ensure timely and accurate processing of student aid.
  • Interprets and applies federal regulations, state guidelines, and institutional policies.
  • Reviews student records to determine aid eligibility and resolve discrepancies.
  • Assists with professional judgment, special circumstance, dependency override, and other regulatory processes as assigned.
  • Supports reconciliation, reporting, and quality assurance activities.
Veterans Affairs
  • Coordinates certification of veterans, active‑duty military personnel, reservists, National Guard members, and eligible dependents receiving educational benefits.
