Turn Potential into Opportunity—Become a Career Coach

SVCC is currently seeking applicants for the position of a High School Career Coach. The positions will have a home base of one of the College campus sites, to be determined with consideration for the preference of the selected candidates.

The successful candidates must be committed to our mission to provide quality education to a diverse constituency. These positions serve on the college’s Student Success team.

The Coaches will work with area high school students who are in the middle majority academically (2.0 to 3.0 GPA), and with students who lack a clearly defined academic and career path. The Career Coach provides intensive career planning and academic advising services to high school students. The Coach will be assigned to multiple area high schools within the SVCC Service region during the high school academic year and on the community college campus or assigned location during summer months.

The position will be part of a career coach team, working collectively with the student population.

This is a restricted, 1-year position with a possible extension:
July 1, 2026 – June 30, 2027; however, this is not a guaranteed time frame.

Job Duties Include But Are Not Limited To
  • Serve as a community college advisor and career/academic advisor for area high school students to help them understand and map out academic and career plans.
  • Relate career information to students regarding post-secondary education, labor market information, and training.
  • Will administer career assessments and work intensively to help students create academic and career plans to ensure a clear path to successful post-secondary education and training.
  • Assist students with the college application process, accessing financial aid, scholarships, and other supports available at their college of choice or via workforce partners in the community application process.
  • Provide dual enrollment application support as needed.
