Economic Empowerment Adult Education Ameri Corps Member

The Economic Empowerment Adult Education Ameri Corps Member is a one-year position responsible for supporting programming designed to accompany our clients as they work towards their educational, economic, financial, and vocational goals. In this role, you will provide logistical support to our Newcomer Education Program. Newcomer Education centers around in‑person, group services that offer skill‑development, education, and community building opportunities. Programming is designed around expressed needs and is facilitated through intentional collaboration with community partners.

The Newcomer Education team works to remove barriers to access often faced by clients, such as lack of transportation, language access, or childcare. Newcomer Education offers multi‑week courses that builds English proficiency and skills necessary for workforce development such as digital literacy, navigating projects, etc., while also building community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop partnerships in the community that would provide support for educational programming
  • Ensure language access for programming
  • Communicate with program participants and volunteers
  • Weekly check‑ins with program director
  • There could be opportunities for teaching if the applicant has expertise in topics such as sewing, job readiness or personal finance
Required Qualifications
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident (LPR) authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must commit to one full term of service
  • Must be high school graduate, GED recipient, or working toward attaining a high school diploma / GED during their term of service
  • Must complete a National Service Criminal History check
  • Driver’s license and a reliable vehicle
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong project management and attention to detail—must be able to keep track of multiple projects at once
  • Strong layout, composition, and design skills
  • Proficiency working across different systems such as G‑Suite, Office 365, Squarespace, Canva, Meta Suite, and Linked In and willingness to learn new platforms as needed
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with program staff, volunteers, and clients
  • Familiarity with photography, including knowledge of composition, lighting, and editing a plus
  • Flexible, willing to learn new things, and open to receive feedback and grow from challenges
  • Ability to work well both independently as well as on a team
  • Comfort working with people from diverse cultures
