Kids is looking for enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join our Learning Gardens program as seasonal part-time Garden Educators! The hourly rate starts at $16.50/hour.

  • Schedule:Monday-Friday, 8 am-4pm
  • Hours:Approximately 30 hours per week

Employment Period:Sepember 1, 2026-Dec 4, 2026. With an opportunity to renew in February 2027.

What You’ll Do:As a Garden Educator, you’ll bring the joy of gardening to life for students! You’ll:

  • Lead Hands-On Lessons:Integrate the garden into standards-based curriculum through engaging, in-person lessons.
  • Maintain School Gardens:Collaborate with schools to keep their gardens thriving and vibrant.
  • After-School Adventures:Guide elementary and middle school students through fun garden club activities.
  • Promote Fruits and Veggies:Use the magic of gardening to inspire students to love fruits and veggies!

Key Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead hands-on in-person lessons that integrate the garden into the core, standards-based curriculum
  • Collect and enter data for various program evaluation requirements to ensure program effectiveness

Required Qualifications:

  • Availability to work in person
  • Access to reliable transportation
  • Demonstrated commitment to a healthy lifestyle
  • Experience growing produce is a plus
  • Experience working with groups of children and leading educational sessions
  • Motivated self-starter with strong interpersonal communication skills, both oral and written
  • Strong attention to detail and multitasking
  • Experience interacting with ethnically and socio-economically diverse communities and the ability to integrate into an existing school community
  • Knowledge of computer and internet-based programs for communicating with colleagues, and reporting program data
  • Ability to submit a complete background check

$16.50 – $20.00 / hour
