Mountain Gateway Community College is a two-year public institution of higher education and one of 23 community colleges in Virginia. Welding Instructors (Evening Classes)

Buena Vista, VA – Wilson Center and Clifton Forge, VA – Main Campus

As a Welding Instructor, you will deliver high-quality instruction in our evening classes, providing students with hands‑on training and theoretical knowledge in welding techniques, safety protocols, and industry standards. This position offers a rewarding opportunity to mentor students and contribute to workforce development in our community.

• Develop and deliver engaging welding curriculum for evening classes
• Ensure a safe learning environment adhering to safety regulations
• Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback
• Maintain equipment and ensure proper safety protocols are followed
• Collaborate with program staff to enhance course offerings

• Be part of a respected trades program that makes a real difference

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

• Proven experience in welding, fabrication, or related trades
• Certification or credentials in welding (e.g., AWS Certified Welding Inspector or equivalent) preferred
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Commitment to student success and safety

• Prior teaching experience
• Associate Degree
