Private Violin Teacher, Beginning  School Year

Variable Hours Henrico, VA, US

The Violin Instructor is responsible for teaching private music lessons and assisting students with their recital performances. The Violin Instructor will collaborate with the performing arts faculty to support the music curriculum and instrumental music ensembles as part of an evolving performing arts program.

Pay is variable based on enrollment of students.

General

Responsibilities include:
  • Teaching Violin lessons in the Lower, Middle and Upper School
    • Teaching essential skills for violin performance technique, music literacy, ear training, and music theory
    • Reinforcing learning of ensemble music for Lower, Middle and Upper School instrumental repertoire in the private lesson setting
  • Fostering a climate of respect for each child as an individual
  • Identifying and pursuing professional opportunities that enhance and extend one’s teaching
  • Attending all Strings recitals
  • Keeping record of student lesson dates and times throughout the year
Successful candidates will possess the following qualifications and competencies:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Music Education or Performance is preferred
  • 5 years private teaching experience at a Middle School, High School or College level
  • Strong commitment to students with all learning styles
  • Ability to inspire students’ love of learning and critical thinking
  • Enthusiasm for academic excellence and creative teaching
  • Passion for music education
  • Experience in and commitment to the ongoing development and maintenance of an inclusive campus community
