VCUarts Adjunct Instructor - Department of Dance and Choregraphy

Department of Dance + Choreography is recruiting a pool of applicants on an ongoing basis for possible adjunct teaching positions. The Department of Dance + Choreography will consult the adjunct applicant pool and contact qualified applicants whose credentials match our specific teaching needs on an as-needed basis. This poolwill only be assessed when an adjunct opportunity arises.

Possible adjunct opportunities could include teaching a course(s) in any of the areas of study offered by the Department of Dance +Choreography. A link to course descriptions from VCU’sUndergraduate Bulletin can be found at (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).  If an opportunity becomes available, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.

Adjunct faculty are expected to be enthusiastic ambassadors for the Department of Dance + Choreography and have a desire to work with astudent population from all backgrounds and experiences in acollaborative and learning-centered community of other adjunct instructors, students, faculty and staff.

• Appropriate teaching experience and/or strong oral presentation and communication skills.
• Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment ofrespect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty,staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or acommitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
• Demonstrated skills and experience in one or more areas of expertise in Ballet, Modern, Hip Hop, Ballroom, Yoga, Screen Dance,Composition, Choreography and other relevant areas.

• Master's degree in Dance, Choreography, or a related field, orBFA with equivalent professional experience and training that equates to a terminal degree in the field.
• Willingness to teach in both in-person and online formats.
• Willingness to recruit as needed, assist with semesterlyassessments, and help support the Dance and Choreographydepartment’s vision and student growth.
