The University Based Teacher Educator is responsible for instructing,coaching and supervising student teachers during their practicalclinical work in school settings in the greater Richmondarea.

Duties & Responsibilities:The University Based Teacher Educator (UBTE) plays a pivotal rolein the field experience for the teacher candidate. They serve as an ambassador for VCU School of Education and support the success ofthe school based teacher educator (SBTE) in their role with theintern. As such, they are expected to do the following:
This includes the orientation at the start of each semester AND the monthlyUBTE meetings (via Zoom) as well as individual check-ins, asneeded.
Successful completion of all duties outlined above will factor intorehiring decisions.
Qualifications:Minimum Qualifications
- Must hold a valid Virginia Collegiate Professional Certificateand Virginia Teaching Endorsement in one of the following areas:
Art Education, Music Education, Special Education, Elementary Education, High School Science, Math, English;
History, and Middle School Education. - At least 3 years of successful classroom teaching experience.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, in particular the ability towork well with students and faculty.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Computer literacy including ability to use spreadsheets andonline preforms.
- Experience working with culturally and economically diverse populations.
- Proficiency with Zoom or other virtual platforms.
- Self starter with the ability to work with little supervision.
- Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment ofrespect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty,staff, and students for all backgrounds and experiences, or acommitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
- Doctorate in content area and previous higher education teaching experience.
- Experience mentoring in an education setting.
$700 per 1 student
