Work Location:
Frederick, VA | Class Time: 6–8 p.m. Monday & Wednesday evenings | Position:
Part‑time (max 29 hrs/week) | Pay Rate: $33.72/hr
- Plan and deliver standards‑based instruction to adults who speak or read English less than well in in‑person classrooms.
- Integrate digital literacy and workplace skills into all classes.
- Accurately collect, record, and submit class attendance and assessments in a timely manner.
- Administer online academic and language assessments to evaluate student progress toward learning targets.
- Accurately report student data into an online system promptly.
- Develop and implement individual student learning plans.
- Manage and maintain a professional classroom environment.
- Respond to student and staff email within 24 hours.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Assist the agency or state government during emergency declarations by the Governor.
- Travel as required to sites, campuses, or training sessions across the college service region.
- Bachelor’s degree required by the Virginia Department of Education.
- Experience developing lesson plans for multi‑level, multi‑subject classes.
- Experience delivering standards‑based instruction to ESL students.
- Experience integrating digital literacy and workplace skills into instruction.
- Experience administering online academic and language assessments.
- Experience accurately reporting student data in a timely fashion.
- Experience developing and implementing individual student learning plans.
- Ability to follow the policies of the regional adult education program.
- Capable of working independently and following host facility policies.
- Accurate response to student and staff email within 24 hours.
- Experience working with non‑traditional students.
- ESL instructors must have experience teaching English language learners at various levels.
- Additional consideration: experience teaching adults.
