Youth Ministry Team

Second Presbyterian Church of Richmond, Virginia

• Plan and implement youth programs, typically: 5 hours/Sunday (4 program hours, 1 planning hour); one 3 hour Youth Event/month; two outside of church presence commitments/month; one lock-in or overnight event/year; one planning meeting/month
• Be a person of sincere devotion to the life and ministry of Jesus Christ and a willing disciple of Christ with our young people.
• Be a regular and positive presence with the youth of our church engaging and supporting them on Sunday mornings and other times through the week as time allows, as well as on special occasions when youth group gathers.
• Be an accountable leader, along with our Covenant Pastor for Children, Youth, and their Families, for the health, well-being, and success of our youth program.
• Be a theological leader for our youth: implementing curriculum, helping the youth in planning and implementing youth Sunday.
• Help to create an atmosphere where youth are welcomed, cared for, and encouraged in their faith journeys.
• Plan and implement youth programs: typically, one three hour youth event per month; monthly Friday morning breakfasts near the high schools; and one lock-in per year
• Give time and energy to supporting our youth beyond the timeframe of church events, meeting individually with youth with another adult present for child protection purposes, attending their activities, striving to connect with each of them, and helping to create a sense of community and care among our youth group. A ministry of presence.
• Help to expand our youth program by reaching out to those less connected, by attracting new members, by inviting youth to bring their friends, and seeking to deepen the program’s significance in the lives of our youth.

Stipend – $400/month

Work cooperatively with the entire Children’s Ministry Team as both a team player and an active participant in the Children’s Ministry.

Performance reviews will be conducted annually by the Covenant Pastor for Children, Youth, and their Families. The personnel council will review the adequacy of compensation after the annual review each year.
