- Adjunct teaching positions are filled on an ongoing basis; applicants are evaluated when a teaching need arises.
- Possible opportunities include teaching one or more interior design courses; see course descriptions at https://bulletin.vcu.edu/azcourses/ides.
- Adjunct faculty are expected to be thoughtful, proactive members of the Interior Design community and work collaboratively with students, faculty and staff.
- Only selected candidates are contacted for interview.
- Terminal degree (MFA) in a related field, or BFA with additional training and/or professional experience that equates to a terminal degree holder.
- Appropriate teaching experience and/or strong oral presentation and communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience working in an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with faculty, staff and students from all backgrounds and experiences.
- Design Studio – teaching development and process of design ideas, principles, human factors, problem solving, research, code requirements, project development; teaching construction documents is a plus.
- Ethics and Business for Interior Environments – address professional and business practices related to the interior design profession.
- Visual Communication in Design – use manual and computer graphic techniques (Adobe Creative Suite, Revit, rendering engines) to teach drafting, sketching, rendering, perspective drawing, model making.
- Design related lecture topics – design history, materials, lighting and color, construction, design foundations, research methods and design fundamentals.
- NCIDQ certification preferred.
- Current CV or Resume.
- A list of three current references (names, phone numbers, email addresses). References will not be contacted prior to approval.
- Portfolio of work (visual documentation, professional work, student examples). If file size is problematic, include an accessible link to a website or cloud storage.
